Attendance Policy
At NOVA Academy KL, attendance is taken seriously. Regular attendance is essential not only for academic progress, but for receiving your certificate upon course completion.
Minimum Attendance Requirement
All students — children and adults, in-person and online — are required to maintain a minimum attendance of 80% throughout their course. Falling below this threshold will affect your eligibility for graduation and certification.
Punctuality
Students are expected to join or arrive at their class no later than 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. Consistent lateness is recorded and may affect your attendance record.
What Happens If Attendance Falls Below 80%
We understand that life happens. However, if a student's attendance drops below the required 80%, the following process applies:
- First warning — a formal notification is issued to the student and, where applicable, to the parent or guardian.
- Second warning — a second formal notification is issued. At this point, the student is strongly advised to address the situation before further action is taken.
- Suspension — if attendance continues to fall below the required level after two warnings, the student will be suspended from classes until a knowledge assessment is completed and passed. Reinstatement is subject to the results of this assessment.
Reporting an Absence
If you are unable to attend a class, you must notify the academy in advance:
- Standard absences — notify us at least 24 hours before the scheduled class.
- Medical absences — if you are unable to give 24 hours notice due to illness or a medical situation, notify us on the same day and provide supporting documentation (medical certificate or equivalent).
Absences that are not reported will be marked as unexcused and will count against your attendance record.
